Learning Curve

some adventures last four years
for some it may be just one
yet their days of high school over
as alumni their lives have begun

for many as little innocent freshmen
lost and clueless the first day
have grown to young adults
who have picked and chosen their own way

it was tough to see them struggle
through the worst of times it felt
what joy it was to celebrate
when success was what life dealt

as they head off in their own way
it's hard not to be attached
with all the wonderful experiences
you'd wish they all could last

in college and in careers
you hope for them nothing but the best
hoping you prepared them
for one of life's many tests

the ups and downs are grueling
knowing it's apart of the learning process
understanding now it's my job
to push them towards success

so it's a brand new morning
a new flock have found their place
it's time to teach life's lessons
preparing for the challenges they will face
