spending all of a few days
trying to find that perfect thing
to say what i hoped to convey
i also looked for the recipe
that would sweep you off your feet
to surpass all competition
leaving all others racing to compete
i made sure that the music was perfect
the mood so well thought out
this would be the perfect valentines day
i could guarantee, without a doubt
yet as i thought about it more
this day was nothing more than the next
wondering why so much attention was paid
to this day which made things so complex
as what we have does not need a holiday
to put our love on display
as our valentines day in my eyes
is every moment of every day
it's not like i don't want to celebrate
spending my time in this regard
yet its just that we don't need a holiday
to show just what we are
so on this day i will announce
how wonderful i think you are
yet this will not stop on this day
as everyday you're my shining star
