My friend suggested I check out a ramen place since they had their seasonal jjigae miso ramen. It was worth it. I got a flavor of Korea mixed in with ramen. The full set was quite inexpensive, yet there wasn't much of a line aside from locals while ramen shops nearby had lines out the door full of tourists. Later that day, I got another deal as my friend and I hit up an izakaya after work and enjoyed a fairly inexpensive meal including some amazing asaparagus. For each of us, we value different things. Do we want to hit up that popular spot, find a seasonal favorite, or a cheap or fancy meal? No matter our choice, I hope we find value in our decisions. The same goes for us. We need to find a place where we are the most valued. Someone out there sees our value and I hope we all find that places that sees our greatest value, whether it's loved ones, your job, or anything you do in life. It's easy to settle for what we have, but remember to never allow your value to be diminished.

As I travel, I've always been sad that I lose time as I travel across time zones. In the end, I get that time back, however, I've always seen it as a loss. Time is precious and losing that time is not something I want to do. However, as we decide how we want to spend our time, think of it as an investment. Are you spending your time wisely and using it on the things that matter most to you? If not, adjust and if so, keep at it. The rewards you seek are waiting behind all the hard work and time you put into the things you do. As I look at the time I lose with flights and time zones, I still see the opportunities that I am given are well worth the time. I haven't quite seen the fruits of my labor I am aiming for, however, I know that they are there waiting for me if I keep investing in what I hope to accomplish. Invest wisely.

I spent all day working. The clock was ticking as deadlines loomed and I had to head to the airport after dinner. I didn't do everything I needed to do, but still yet, I was able to get a good amount lf work done. With a lot of things going on, our family didn't have a gathering, but during my breaks, I got to enjoy a little time watching football with my family and eating a non-traditional meal at home. When the time came, I grabbed my stuff and headed to the airport with my plans all prepped for my meeting. I arrived early just in case parking was an issue, but my reservation was good and I arrived in the lounge early. In front of me, a beautiful Thanksgiving spread awaited as I worked a bit more before my flight and sent out my final confirmations. Although today wasn't typical, I am glad to have had some time to spend with my family. I am grateful for my family and friends, for all the wonderful opportunities I've been given, and simply the ability to live. I may not be happy the way things in life work out, but that doesn't mean I am not grateful for the opportunity to live the life that I do. I am hoping that you all had a wonderful and Blessed holiday and a wonderful year. I hope that the remainder of 2024 and beyond is full of great memories and blessings. I am thankful for you all. Oh yeah, "Go Pack Go!"

My dad couldn't go to our annual trip and so I was going to go solo and get some work done while I was there. Luckily, I had some visitors stop by and made it a bit more interesting. Although I broke even through the week, I did a lot of fun things outside the casino. From crane games to the boneyard, it was fun to venture to different places without breaking the bank. I decided to beat traffic and head back a little early and it worked out. The drive home was smoothe and I got right to work when arriving home, but still yet, I took a bit of time to play around once I wrapped up the work I needed to finish in Vegas. Even when there's a pile of work looking back at you, carve out a little bit of you time as it will help you as you get back to work. Playtime may be over, but at least I begin working with a boatload of memories from the week. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

Yesterday, I bowled pretty well. My last game was a 245. For those that don't know, I did at least three things when I first was able to walk comfortably - bowling, ice skating and skiing. I have pictures of me skiing between my dad's legs down the bunny slopes, my little self floating along the ice, and of course, pictures of me sleeping in the bowling alley on a Friday night at my dad's bowling league. Later I would pick up golf, basketball and a range of other activities, but those, as far as I can remember, were the three. Through the process of learning, there were growing pains, injuries and other mishaps. That is life. Some see that I jump onto the ice or bowl a 200 and wonder how I did it, but behind that performance is years of hard work. We don't always see what people have to go through to get where they are, but appreciate their process, as I'm sure their road to where they are at was an arduous one. It's not always just being born with a skill, rather, it takes time, like my skills in golf. My first round was the highest score I've ever heard someone get on a course, but within that same summer, I shaved off about 40% of that score. When times are tough, do what you can to grind through it as you'll build some grit in the process. Things won't come easy in life, so work at it and it will actually help you find success in other areas down the road. Today, was one of those tough days. I did something to my groin, which affected the end of my approach where I get my power. I adjusted, I learned and I still finished albeit, not with the highest scores. Life is full of growing pains, so prepare for them and don't let yourself quit when the going gets tough as if you can withstand it, you'll find that the other obstacles in life aren't as nad as you may have thought.

It's been awhile since I used my own bowling ball. I felt old and gray when I went to throw the ball and slipped. Is it time to be thrown in the boneyard? In all we do, there is a limit on how long we can go. While there may be people like my dad who keeps working wonders with what they can do, many of us will feel useless in od age as we become limited. As I walked through the boneyard of old Vegas signs, it made me think of people. Instead of saying we no longer serve a purpose, rather, we should find a way to repurpose ourselves. Transition from what we've done to what we are able to do and you'll find a way to make yourself the most useful version of yourself. You never belong in the boneyard, rather find a way to illuminate yourself even after you thought it would no longer be possible.

Sometimes, you get forgotten. After driving to Vegas and enjoying a delicious lunch, we rested and headed to dinner at one of our favorite spots, Lotus of Siam. Normally, aside from the wait, most things are good, but today was not. Our 7:30 reservation led to a seat 25 minutes later. We promptly ordered our appetizers, but after 25 minutes, nobody came back to take our order (although someone else delivered our appetizer). Maybe we had been forgotten back in the corner as the table near us started ordering about 20 minutes before us despite arriving later, however, we still ended up eating. I wasn't left with a good impression as I was fuming, still yet, I enjoyed my food and still went on with my day. In life, we have a choice to allow others to control our narrative or to take a moment when we're in the corner and still make the most of it. Forgetting how we were wronged once we voice our points allows us to move on and not let that moment hold us back. We may have wanted better service, more attention to detail with the food or simply someone to check in on us, but we can no longer do anything about it. Fight to correct what you can, but then remove yourself from that corner and move on. It's right that you should still be upset, but don't allow yourself to be trapped in the corner of life.

No practice, no conference, and no work. I didn't set an alarm, as I rested, yet still had a pile of work to do. I got some cleaning done, but mostly, I was prepping for banquet and the week ahead. In the middle of working, the niece and nephew stopped by. My body was sore from yesterday's game and I was fatigued. This little girls looks up to me and says, "let's fly.:" I shook my head and said, uncle is too old for this. I obliged. At times you'll hit your limit and it's good to gice yourself a break, however, at times, it's worth pushing just a little more to make something work. I did that today and it was well worth expending that bit of energy. I hope down the line, this will be a lasting impression for them, something small that they'll remember, but even if not, at least something I will. In life we wonder if something is "worth it" and for each of us, we have to determine if it's worth it or not, but just remember that a little extra effort may be just the thing that makes this simple moment memorable.

With this being the last day efore fall break, you'd assume we'd be making a run for the exits. However, at Cerritos, we have a different tradition, we have our alumni/staff games. It's great to see the students in good spirits with the weight of work off their shoulders and the teachers, coaches and alumni huffing and puffing down the court, just trying to survive. While it may seem like just a game, the games create a bond between the athletes and their competitors. To the adults, they shine a new light on a connection outside the classroom and for the alumni, it creates a bond between the generations of past and the current team, making the program even stronger.  However, sometimes we never know just how important an evening like this can be whether it's reconnecting, accomplishing the unfathomable or simply enjoying another memory created at Cerritos High School. We'll never get to measure how important this game is, but when you look back at this moment, I know for memory, they're will be something important to take from this wonderful event.

I spent the past few days in Hollywood. There was a cool opportunity provided and we were able to get Tetzlaff to perform at the Dolby Theater. It was cool seeing them on stage in a much grander scale than they have ever imagined. They're one of the top bands around, however, even with all their awards and preparation, I knew this could be a challenge. It didn't seem like it was at all. They organized themselves, they had their leaders who took the reigns when needed, and they were able to execute when required to, even with last minute adjustments. Of course, their youth showed as their eyes lit up when they walked by one of their favorite groups, still yet, they kept their professionalism, smiled and did their thing. It was fun to see them return to what I imagined a middle schooler would be like after the performance, as the weight of it all disappeared. They laughed about their expressions in their performance and overall just reflected on it all before we packed up and headed out. When life throws us opportunities, sometimes it doesn't work out, but when it does, it can be something that is unmatched and will be a memory on a grander scale than you could ever have imagined.

It was another busy day as I brought over my Wat's Smokin'? chili before the meeting. With a full day on going, it was hard to get everything done, but I somehow managed. I finished Nationals assignments, headed out to the rehearsal in Hollywood, then out to Reseda for the game against Sierra Canyon. Despite the score, it was a worthwhile experience for the team. For the marching band, it was also an experience they'll never forget. In life, we get opportunities like this that seem extraordinary.  Sometimes, they don't work out, sometimes you pass on them, but when you accept them, sometimes you'll see all the good things that come because of it. I was exhausted when I arrived back home, but I also was happy knowing just how special these types of moments are, which is why I'll treasure them. When your opportunities comes, do your best to not pass it up.

There's a lot of chaos outside these walls. With so much going on around the world, it's easy to go crazy. There's so many things I wish I could fix with the stroke of a wand. As much as we want to change about the world around us, we can also make sure we make the life within these walls as best as possible. With a full slate today, I was stressing out about how I would get everything done, but I kept myself level-headed and sane and things turned out well. After dealing with some issues in the morning, I headed to work, remembering to bring my cameras for the fall concert. It was great to see a crowd gathered in this space. It was different than normal, but different isn't always bad. The students enjoyed the concert and the students performing seemed to come alive as well. I think it was great to see them get out of their comfort zone and provide an experience for themselves, along with the others who came to enjoy the concert with them. I ventured off to run errands as I prepared for tomorrow's soup kitchen in the limited time I had. I was planning not to make anything due to tomorrow's schedule, but I jumped all in and had to run around during my break to ensure I had what I needed. After dance practice, I stopped by home and grabbed everything I needed for the basketball media day. After snapping those photos, I ventured to Han Yang for a meet up to finish off the night. Within the walls of my own world, I kept things busy, but also sane. Despite the chaos of the world, I was able to ensure that everything inside the walls of my world, things were settled. It was busy, but it was also fruitful. I didn't ignore the problems that are outside these walls, but I hope we understand that if we want to fight a battle outside of these walls, we must first take care of what's inside. Take care of what you need to take care of, then address what you feel needs to be addressed. An alumni of mine keeps speaking up against all the atrocities happening around us and I took will begin to raise my voice more and take an active stands against all that is wrong in this world that we can fix. However, before I can do that, I'll be sure to take care of what I need to inside these walls. Be an activist, be a voice, do what you need to do, but remember to ensure that the first battle you must focus on winning is inside these walls, not just for yourself, but for all those who are impacted by all the good work that you do.

In life, the sun sets every day. We look forward to another day, when the sun will rise again. One of these days, that sun will no longer rise, as we will have passed on into another place. As sad as this is to think about, it's a process of life. As I look up to the sky, I wondered, how many more sunsets will I get to see. Instead of worry if this will be the last, I soaked in the beauty of the sunset, hoping that I would get to see one another day. In life, we often times overlook something that is so incredible and beautiful. When I typically would still be wrapping up practice, I walked into the parking lot after 7th period, wrapping up another dance practice instead. As sad as I was that the sun set on our season, I was glad that even when a chapter in our life ends, a day will begin. We'll see what each sunrise and sunset brings us in our lives and how things will change, but for now, I will peer off into the distance and enjoy the beauty that I am able to, never knowing which one will be my last. Appreciate every moment and never forget just how precious it is.

When talking to a non-native of LA, I mentioned the lack of seasons in LA. However, she did mention that since moving here, she noticed the subtle differences in weather from season to season. Of course, I still yearned for the drastic shifts that will allow me to see the white winters, the fall foliage and the blooms of spring. As I searched through my fall photos from Japan as I prepared my plans to scout sites in a few weeks, it made me yearn once again for the changes in weather. As I sit indoors, I barely notice the weather patters and changes, however, even if I was outside, I may not even realize. Like life, the seasons can shift subtly like in LA or drastically in other places. Some people tend to have dramatic shifts, while others, barely change from season to season. I, for one, feel as if I am pretty fair-weathered and don't really change too much throughout the year. However, whenever that change occurs, I have the necessary preparations ready to deal with what comes my way. No matter what our situation is, I hope that we can all be prepared for change. Whether we like or not, change is inevitable and even if we typically change very little, I hope that we can sway with the winds and accept the change that comes are way with a positive light. Some of us like the cold and other, the warm weather, however, even when we are hit with what we dislike, I hope we can make the most of what life throws at us. As while the seasons change, we don't have to let that bother us, rather, just prepare and move along as if it's just another day. I took one last glance at the photo before getting back to preparing for our banquet. As I longed for the fall foliage to come much sooner, for now, I'll accept what comes my way and make the most of each and every moment. I hope you do as well.

It was strange when I looked at how the girls results turned out. I predicted the points to be 41, 70, 91, 115 and they ended up 60, 71, 92, 107 in the correct order of teams. The boys results came out similar as I picked four of the five qualifying teams. The numbers often tell the tale with injuries and illnesses being the thing that causes the most changes. Of course, no matter where I project our team, the only thing I ask of them is to give it your all and finish you know you gave it your all. That's all you can do as you roll the dice to see what happens. Every once in awhile, things fall into place, however, the only thing you can control, is how you do. In life, we're going to face many of these insurmountable moments. We'll face those David vs Goliath battles. However, whether your favored to finish first or last, you need to go out there and execute your plan to the best of your abilities. I remind my athletes not to worry about how fast the teams around them may be, but to run your race and work on executing your plan. While some were disappointed, many ran the race we had hoped for. My boys moved up two spot after improving by 30 seconds from the invitational with our #2 being sick and our #5 out. Our girls improved by over eight minutes from the invitational and moved up one spot, since I adjusted it for a healthier squad. Overall though, they all went out there and battled to the best of their abilities. When I arrived back at the tent, it was a virtual ghost town, which made me happy. They were all together celebrating their finish and enjoying their final moments of the season together. After a summer full of grueling workouts, days running miles under the hot sun, hours in the weight room after most went home, competition after competition full of success and disappointment, taking care of soreness, injuries and illnesses, and the many hours spent together working on preparing and bonding together, they stood together one final time. Whether or not they set a new record or make school history in some way is not as significant as, did the end the season as one ohana. The importance of ohana is more long lasting than any performance. In a decade or two, will those connection still be intact or at the very least, will those memories remain in the minds of those who were a part of this program? I am hoping that the answer to this will be yes for this group and the many that have passed through our program. As while the road for our season ends here, the road for our ohana will be ongoing long into the future. Ohana RNR.

I decided to stop by the store on my way home and bought ingredients for soup. I was feeling a little under the weather yesterday, but seemingly had recovered today. Still yet, I wanted to make my mom's Japanese chicken soup. It always has a warming feeling and not only makes me feel better physically, but also, strangely in the soul. It reminds me of the series back in the day, Chicken Soup for the Soul. I've actually thought a lot about this lately. I don't talk much about religion and faith, mainly because not everyone believes in what I believe in. Lately, I've been so perplexed. As a Christian, I would hope that we would live to treat others around us well, and help nourish a healthy environment for them through selfless, caring and respect. What I am perplexed by is the amount of people who label themselves as Christian, yet turn around and spew vile things at people, who disrespect them, and do things to help themselves more than those around them. In a previous post, I discussed how simply going to church, posting scripture or reading the Bible were not as important as reflecting the Word of God in your actions. When a student or athlete apologize to me, my normal response is, show me through your actions. I think religion is similar, we need to show our faith through our actions. As I scroll through the posts of many online or hear what they say in the news, I would never think that they would label themselves as Christian or any religion for that matter, as they all align and teach a similar value of respect and treating others well. However, it is often the case, that when I read these comments, when I click on their profile, Christian is often listed. Luckily, I think I am surrounded by people who emulate the religious teachings they follow. I am mostly around people who are harmonious, respectful, and trustworthy. However, I hope the Christians in our country can reflect on what they are doing and saying and ask themselves, is this a post a Christian should make or is this something a Christian should say or do? I think this can apply for anyone who practices any religion. Let's look at the posts of those around us and those we look up to and ask ourselves, have we guided ourselves off that path we should be traveling. Are we "idolizing" people who don't fit the people we want ourselves to be? As I read the scriptures, there are countless warnings of these dark times where we will be led astray and I can't help but thing of the challenges we are facing today. It's easy to blame people for this and that, but if we truly are going to be good Christians, good followers of a religion, and just good people in general, instead of blaming, name-calling, and the like, shouldn't we be spending that time and energy trying to fix what is broken together? I'm a pacifist. I want to lead a life that is calm and peaceful, where I don't have to hear sad stories of war, genocide, pain and suffering and more, so I only hope that we can solve these problems that plague our world (even more so today), however, in order to do that, it also means we need to take action, the right way. Regardless of what action we need to take, however, I also hope that our words and actions align with our beliefs and represent the people who we aim to be. We can always start this process of improving this world, by beginning with us and the people around us. Many of times, I've caught myself and had to guide myself back on course and while we may have temporarily been led astray, I hope we can reflect and figure out if we need to realign ourselves to match the values we hope to portray. Religious or not, I hope that we can all act in a way that is respectful to those around us, avoiding the hate and negativity that is embedded in our society. Like a disease that invades the body, I hope we can find a way to fight this off, before it infects us all. I hope we can properly address all that is plaguing our society in hopes that one day, I can sit back not getting worked up over an inappropriate post and rather sit back and enjoy a hot bowl of chicken soup, warming my body on a cold day.

The past few days, I've been watching the market closely. With crypto activating, I've been selling and buying over the past few days pretty regularly trying to catch the swings. Strangely, in my Econ class, we are discussing supply and demand and it's so easy to connect the stock and crypto market to these concepts. I think I've seen a lot more interest among students in trading, which is pretty cool, but it also means, I need to be careful on what I talk about to avoid them trying to invest without knowing what they are doing. Both of these paralleled my freshman class as the wrapped up their Renaissance drawings and joined in the Renaissance marketplace. Each student starts with at least five dollars. They get more if they are trying hard or their piece is exceptional. We then go outside and buy and sell these art pieces including the option of NFTs (selfies with the drawing). I search for who has the most physical paintings (they got the best deals), those who have the most money (best business people), and those who sold their piece for the most (most likely, best artist). It's fun to watch them interact and use their MUN skills, while also practicing wheeling and dealing, which is good for haggling. As our seniors worked out problems with supply and demand, my freshman were acting it out and I was actually investing real money in the marketplace. It's even more evident why financial literacy is important for the youth. As they work out these financial negotiations or they figure out how to budget, how to cut wasteful spending, and discovering what they actual need, next to what they want, they learn in the process how to smartly proceed with their money. While they may want to wastefully follow the trends in the market, often times, the lessons they learn about their finances, will help them determine the right choices in any given economic situation. Today was a fun day in the open market and I only hope that these lessons are one that they will learn from.

It was probably one of the most jam packed days and that's saying a lot based on my schedule this year. However, between classes, remember everything for cross country and the events, my mind kept going back and forth trying to remember everything. Luckily, I remembered my cameras as at lunch we had the Winter Formal Premier. Afterwards, I took quick photos and videos for the basketball team, then we did our traditional CIF run after our intervals. Luckily, my evening allowed me to catch up on some work, but the day itself was filled with wall-to-wall to dos. I finished uploading photos, as I headed to bed a bit early as I was a bit under the weather. I guess the busy schedule wore on my body a bit, as I will be heading to bed a little early, However, looking back as I upload my final pictures of the night, the day may have been busy, but capturing these moments for the students was well worth it. Many will never want a jam packed schedule, but it also means that you will fill your memory box with a load of memories, leaving it jammed packed.

It's always nice to get dressed up. Although we aren't eating at a fancy restaurant, our tradition has always been to dress up a bit for our CIF dinner. We've switched to Thai food as our go to as it's much faster and the food is pretty good. It's nice to spend time with the team as we wind down the season and celebrate this opportunity. It's always good to appreciate this opportunity, something that is not always a given. We ate our dinner and enjoyed our post-dinner photos as we captured another memory, as we were all styling. It's been a long stretch of events with a late league finals, but I do appreciate each one of these moments and truly cherish that I have the opportunity to work with these wonderful athletes year after year.

After an early practice, I had some time to relax before our CIF event. I did some prep for CIF, then organized some files on my computer. As I did, it was nice to see some old photographs, as the old memories began a cycle of encountering folder of more memories. As we ventured near and far, I reminisced of all the moments I've shared with my teams, as we celebrated our victories, consoled each others in our difficult moments, and created memories as an ohana. This journey is not only about a championships, but it is a quest that we are on together, as we learn and grow through the cycles of life, both good and bad. It's easy to have good times when you win, but your grow closest when you support each other during the worst of times. Our quest is not to win a title, but to be unified in whatever we do. It's never easy to do as this or that may get in the way, however, when you're able to, you'll create bonds that will withstand the greatest of pressure. I've been on a quest to build those connections and those bonds and tonight was another one of those missions. As we closed the night, they sang their hearts out on the way home and didn't want to leave as I "encouraged" them to go home. However, deep down, I was definitely appreciative of the fact that this was a place they wanted to be, with their ohana. Mission accomplished.

There's a reason why our students tend to be successful when they leave our school. They prepare, they analyze, and they execute. From researching and understanding a topic to negotiating solutions to world problems, by the time these students leave our school, they get it. They know how to look into issues, they know how to analyze them, and they know how to make decisions. All the skills they pick up are useful in any field they go into and thus, they level up early. To watch them in committee always impresses me. While I need to give them a little push once in awhile, for the most part, they are driven. From time to time, their perspective on how they did may be skewed, they still are there and actively participating and preparing themselves for the world ahead. I wish that as many students as possible could experience this program. It would help educate them on things that a majority of people in this country aren't exposed to, as they'll be introduced to complex topics not discussed in a normal classroom. At the end of the day, it was great to see some of the students receive awards for their excellence, but even those that didn't should understand that they received the greatest gift as they participated this weekend, leveling up. Down the line, many may wonder how they go to where they were and I hope that they'll see that all the hard work that they put in to these conferences gained them something that will be useful as they move forward in life.

After a long conference day, I drove out to BMO for the Seventeen concert. I did a quick search, but decided to wing it for parking. I arrived early, but my early attempts at parking were fails. I thought I had something, but it never panned out and I wasn't confortable with the street parking I found and thus I decided, maybe I'll just go home, as it was already past the start time. As I did, I decided to make a U-turn and ended up in the perfect spot. That's life. When times are tough and you feel like you've exhausted all options, you find your spot. Even when you don't, you can move on knowing you did what you could or what you were willing to do. For many of my students, a future in politics or international relations may not be in their cards, but similarly, their experiences may allow them to gain experience, find the path right for them, or even find their spot in life. In the end, I quickly headed to the stadium via a bike taxi, found a shorter line for security, and sat down just as the concert started, as they were delayed due to the long lines. Tonight, I found my spot and I wish you the best as you search for yours. Never forget that even when life feels hopeless and you feel lost and turned around, sometimes a change of environment or route may be the way to go, as sometimes it's not that there's not a spot for you, but that the spot is located where you least expect it.

For CIF, our athletes had their annual "boba" run where we write messages to each other. Later that evening, I spend time with my niece and nephew when they came over. Life is a long list of things we need to do, but within all that chaos, there are a handful of special moments we'll remember. Although we could have ran an extra mile pr ai could have gotten a little extra rest before the weekend, it's an easy sacrifice for things I'll remember down the line. As "important" as something is, often times, there are things that will have a long term impact on my life. As I make decisions, I try my best to keep these factors in mind to avoid passing on another moment that I will remember and cherish.

I'm not allowed to post any spoilers, nor would I. However, I have been apart of the Wicked franchise since its original cast on Broadway. Randomly, a ticket agent asked if we wanted to try this new show and from then on, I've enjoyed it every year on Broadway since and have seen it over thirty times, both in LA and Broadway. The movie is like an excellent extended cut of the movie adding qualities that cannot be captured on stage without losing its connection with the iconic musical. A few scenes were incredibly memorable including the defying gravity scene, but surprisingly, the scene from the movie that touched me the most was in the Ozdust Ballroom. To avoid talking about the movie itself, the reason I have loved this musical aside from its amazing theatrical qualities is its underlying message. I am lucky to grow up in an area where people treat each other fairly well. It's not perfect, obviously, but I am lucky to avoid the discrimination, hatred and oppression that many face. Wicked portrays this same divide within society, as the "society" casts its judgement, leaving a few being the outcasts. The story battled the story of who is good and who is evil and how the facade of "goodness" has convinced many that the "great and wonderful" Oz is the hope for the people, whereas, he is the one plotting behind the scenes, oppressing many and manipulating the views of many in the process. I hope in life we can avoid being fooled by facades and see the true qualities within people. It's not always easy, however, their actions (vs their words) will truly show you if they are good or simply, truly wicked. As the press screening wrapped up, the excitement and cheers for a film well done were evident and there's no doubt that this movie will be a generational hit for all to enjoy. I just hope that after watching this film, people can learn to be more understanding and welcoming, in a push to destroy discrimination, hatred, and oppression, as we all deserved to be love, we all deserve an opportunity to live as ourselves, and we all deserve a place we all can call home.

This not so little freshman crossed the finish line first at our varsity league finals today. His 16:37 gave him a 19 second victory. It was a great win, along with my varsity girl who finished undefeated in league this year, but the real question is, what is winning? My freshman didn't win because he crossed the line first, similar to my varsity girl. They both won because of the work that they put in daily, their open ears and minds when hearing advice, their ability to give 100% and find 10% more and many other similar reasons. I've had a range of athletes, but I love it when I think of an athlete and I feel confident that they've already won. Why? We can easily teach our society that winning is being on top, but unless you're taking all the steps to do it the right way, I wouldn't consider it winning at all. Winners set a good example, they push their limits, they're selfless yet determined, and they will lay it all on the line for themselves, but also for their teammates. These two were winning before they even crossed the line. I have a number of athletes like that. On our final day of the regular season, I was proud to see so many of these athletes earn the performances that they had today. The excitement on their faces and how proud they were when they crossed the line, was great to see when I knew they earned every ounce of it. At the end of the day, we won three individual championships and three team championships, but even my boys varsity team who finished second, won today. This team recovered from the loss of a good chunk of their team and still were in the mix, challenging for a title. In the end, we weren't deep enough and maybe just one athlete short of sharing the title, but, there's no way I could consider today a disappointment. As in many things in life, there will be many "winners," but among those who win, they've already demonstrated that they truly are not winners. Winners take the high road, they set the example and just like I mentioned yesterday, they perspire, inspire, and inquire. I hope that we all can win at life, but in order to do so, let's all look at who we are and what we represent. Are we the best versions of ourselves? If not, let's get to work on making the adjustments so we can find our path to victory.

I know a lot of people who were distraught today. When you expect one thing, but something else happens, this is how the feeling turns out. However, no matter how things turn out, in your favor or not, you have a choice to throw your hands and make the decision to begin to grind. Work hard (perspire), influence others (inspire), and question things that should be challenged (inquire). Take an approach that is impactful and fruitful. At the very least, you learn, you grown, and you connect with other likeminded people, which will leave you better in the end. With "dress like your teacher day" in full swing, one of my athletes dressed as me and gave our final speech before league finals. No matter how league finals turns out tomorrow, I hope that each of them will be proud of what they accomplished this season and in their careers and hope that they keep working, keep influencing, and keep challenging to make sure that they use their energy in a way that will produce positive results.

It was the Clippers first win at the Intuit Dome. While I wish that this win came on the day we attended the game, I think finally breaking through to get a win meant a lot to this team. This team missed out on a few chances to win due to late turnovers, missed free throws and in one case, allowing a team to start the second half 15-15. That's not how you get it done. However, aside from Portland, they played solid teams and were competitive in each. However, in dramatic fashion, down 26, they came back and won. I enjoyed watching the updates on my phone of the comeback as I worked through the night preparing for a number of upcoming events. It's never easy to stay focused, but when you have something to keep you going, it makes it a lot easier. I ended up the evening sorting through my files and figure out where everything goes as I am wrapping up a major overhaul of my digital workflow. I know things will change and another crash is sure to come, but for now, I enjoyed a productive work day and also a historic win for the Clippers at their new home.

I posted a picture of this dog during Halloween. I only posted the second photo, from which you might deduce that the dog is a bit psychotic. It was quite fitting with the costume. However, the dog is pretty happy-go-lucky as you can tell from the other photos and the psychotic look was only a yawn. Our currently society often makes judgement of people from a snapshot of a strip of frames of someone's life. A momentary action can sometimes be the way that someone sees you. I agree that you should do your best to behave with decency at all times, but should be really be "ruined" when we lash out once during the many interactions we have during a day, week, month or even year? As I thought about our society, I reflected on how I act and how I look at life. I do my best to give people the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time, repeated or intentional actions lead to losing that privilege. People make mistakes and if that moment was truly only a snapshot of how they are daily, I am bound to forgive them. I hope that we can all look at things objectively. Figure out if our initial response or judgement was correct by giving people the benefit of the doubt. Sure enough, some people will prove that is who they are, while I believe many others will show that they truly are different from what you originally perceived. We all have bad days and moments and I hope that allows us to see that others do as well. Let's see the whole picture in hopes that we can spend less time being angry and frustrated and more time enjoying life.

Behind the drink and dessert are the props for the current collaboration going on a the Arcane Maid Cafe. An alum started this place up and it was cool to visit during their collaboration. They are collaborating with Stein;Gate and thus, they have a "future" menu where you items are delivered through that cool contraption that he built. It's quite impressive. It did get a bit crowded since it was a Saturday. Luckily, I came early and shot most of the clips for the reel I was going to make before they all came in. There was a bit of a delay, but I waited patiently. As I did, I thought about how we are not too considerate in our current world. We've lost our patience and our compassion for others. I know many who are patient, compassionate and kind, but a growing number of incidents of people who are impatient. As I drove to and from the cafe, I was greeted with a number of drivers who definitely met this criteria. The number of times I've seen people drive through the shoulder to pass others or fail to be able to wait for a short period, is something that has come with our instant gratification society, which I've mentioned before. With efficiency comes impatience sometimes. I hope that, myself included, we can all take the time to understand, be patient, and if we do need to move on (or quickly pass), do so in manner that is respectful (and legal). I've always thought to myself, if I'm running late, I should have planned better or just understand that sometimes, it's crowded, so I need to be patient. I will do my best to constantly remind myself what impact my actions have on others and I hope that we all can do the same. It's easy to veer of track, but it's just also just as easy to get back on track if we care enough to do so. After a great dining experience, I vacated my seat so the next diner could sit down and said my goodbyes before braving the freeway once more. As road rage began to creep up, I let my foot off the gas a bit and thought to myself, I'm not in a hurry, just relax and be patient. I went home to wrap up some work and felt a little better as I laid down and relaxed. With a loaded schedule as of late, efficiency has been the priority, but I hope that moving forward, I also remember to focus patience and consideration for others.

It's that time of year after the costumes come off, that people begin their transition into the holiday season. Holiday music usually begins after Halloween, as the decorations begin to appear, often times skipping over Thanksgiving. It was a fun night celebrating the closure of Halloween with the team as we held our annual Halloween potluck. It's always great when the athletes can spend time together and enjoy the time they have together. Similarly, as the holidays approach, I hope that we get to find the time to spend with our families and truly cherish the time we have together. With each year, the time we have together grows shorter and as much time as we think we may have, it may not be as much time as we originally thought. Cherish each day and each moment, especially as we head into the season of festivities. I hope that we can appreciate the quality time we can share together over the the glitz and glamour of what the holiday's often get overshadowed by. Focus on what truly matters, the precious time with family and friends, the greatest gift of all and the thing that shines brightest during this holiday season.
