unpredictable roads

unpredictable roads

sometimes the road you travel
is unpredictable in many ways
as the places you're headed tomorrow
are different than they were today

while you can't always control
what lies beyond your reach
you'll know there are many lessons
in which life is trying to teach

as heartbreaking as losing a companion
someone who's trust was within your own
at times your road diverges
because it's time for you've outgrown

while salvaging may be a choice
only so much weight may your shoulders bare
and for you to be asked to carry all this
would be simply and utterly unfair

so think, can i move on from this place?
is it my time to explore what's beyond?
as you may find you'll easily move on
and of new things you'll seem to grow fond

see the direction in which your path leads you
maybe one day, you'll return to this place
however, don't look back on the past
rather, look to the future that you're about to face
