at these tracks

i stood here waiting
how long should i wait
will you be coming
or are you just late?

we never had scheduled
but just a feeling within
said you'd be coming so
our adventure could begin

am i too hopeful
did i misread what you said
are you not coming
are you going instead?

i'd wait forever
but is forever much too long
if you're never coming
and my feeling was wrong

i've laid your red carpet
hoping you'll soon arrive
because when you're around
i feel so much alive

so i stand here just waiting
ready to give the world to you
as that's what you mean to me
the reason for all that i do

and when you arrive
i'll guarantee you one thing
that you'll put me on cloud 9
and make my heart sing

yet i wait at these tracks
silence yet forevermore
as i imagine my future
with the one that i adore
