It's the day after the milestone 100th day, but it's just as important as the day before. As rough as the day was with class, with banquet preparation, with lack of progress of banquet prep and dealing with the track meet, day 101, became just as special as any other day and then some. Last month, I posted a blog about an athlete (http://wutanabe.blogspot.com/2013/03/march-14-2013-to-win.html) and today, he completed his second race of the season and first away meet. While the student I assigned him to was confused on his grade and thus, waited to enter him in the varsity race, the result was just the same ... no wait, he PRed!!! It was even better. With all the stress of the day, it's a moment like this that makes you pause and realize just how special life can be and none of that stress will push me to destroy precious moments such as these. Yes, he won again, the heart of his teammates again and again for being brave enough to come into the unknown and take on this new task. It allows all the stress of the day float away, allowing me to dream happy dreams and enjoy all that was great about the day. I guess it reminds us that despite all that we're dealing with, we shouldn't allow the stress of everything keep us from experiencing moments as wonderful as this, this race, as well as all the incredible efforts put forth by the rest of the team!
Our meet came to a draw for the boys varsity and we ended up with victories in the remaining three events. My distance team stepped it up big, collecting 111 points out of 117 and 34-2 in the boys varsity race that was a draw. While just two more things weigh on my mind tonight, I will rest easy tonight and forget about it all for now, as 101 sounds so simple, but it definitely was a piece of heaven.
