~:[CH2 - Day 109]:~ Finding Inspiration
It was a dark night sky and the stars where actually able to be seen. It was a rarity in the LA area, but this Ragnar trip really allowed me to get away from it and have some good fun but also time of reflection. My alarm sounded at 4:15am and the thought of, what am I getting myself into AGAIN entered my mind. Without much training, I took on my 15+ miles, which contained about 1/3 constant uphill among two legs. I went, knowing it would not be nice, but knowing I could understand more about myself. Our team met for the first time, as the two cars really didn't know one another. Then it all starts so quickly. The legs went one by one and before I knew it, it was my turn. The sun rose in the air just as I was about to take to the course, as it burned down on me. Running more conservatively than last year, I was able to save just enough energy to finish strong in the leg. Throughout the day, we were able to have our conversations and just enjoy the experience. In the evening, I faced my biggest challenge of the weekend (or so I thought) as I had a 2.5mi uphill introduction to a 7.4mi leg. My plan was to run for five minutes and then take a short walk for 30 seconds to catch my breath and allow my body to recover. It worked and had enough energy to destroy the back side of the course to balance out my pace and hit my split. The leg truly tested me as throughout the first four to five miles of the course, I saw a total of three people, leaving me to a conversation with myself in my head. As I continued, my conversation included God and I left that leg inspired. While the heat was my problem on leg 1 and my hamstring my issue on heat two, in the end, the solace of the evening absent of city lights, full of wildlife, and heading into the unknown allowed me to find the inspiration I need to find success.
Thanks to an amazing group of people who comprise team MooMoo & PooPoo (Team #324), you truly have made this experience amazing!!
