~:[CH9 - Day 188]:~ Viral Infection
In college, my final project was a piece called Viral Infection. It essentially was a video installation of the presidential press room addressing how politics infects us. The video was a petri dish with various politicians and every time it came in contact with another object, it infected whatever it touched. I also had audio playing with some of the not so pleasant moments in history. As I was sending out messages last night, I thought about that project again. Our political landscape is very much like how I addressed it in my project. It's divisive and problematic, as progress has not been for the people. In this graphic, it focus on Trump, but I will agree with many that there are a number of politicians who need to go. Our vaccine? VOTE and encourage others to do so. I have a friend who I always see during voting season sending out PSAs about registration and it's a great thing, but also something that that we must take serious as if it were a medicine or vaccine. Study it and make the right choices for you and the people around you. I'm never going to be a person who votes all blue or all red. I rather leave it blank that do that. I've continued to hammer on Trump, mainly because of the way he attacks people and fails to step up to be a leader. He passes the blame to others and can't admit his faults, which I also think is a common problem in society. I think we all, myself included, need to take more responsibility for our own actions rather than finding excuses or passing blame when we mess up. I think it's also important that we understand that we are all going to make mistakes. We're not perfect and we never will be. I think it's also important to remember this when interacting with others, giving people a chance if they truly messed up and genuinely are sorry for their mistake. However, when people constantly make these "mistakes" so blatantly, it's time for us to call them out. We live in a time where stress and anxiety is high, our frustrations are a plenty, but that doesn't mean we have to live in a world with a negative aura. Let's listen toe people like Fauci who have encouraged us to take precautions and not threaten people who are doing their jobs because it's not something we like. I have not liked the last four months, but it's but a temporary inconvenience. Let's find a way to dialogue, a way to find reason, and use our vote in November as our first vaccine to this problem that has been plaguing our nation. We've heard our voices being raised in the past months, but now it's time for us to take the right actions that can bridge the gap that divides us. Maybe we can start by listening to Fauci and allowing this the time to be one where we "care selflessness about one another." Wear a mask, social distance and taking this pandemic seriously, if not for ourselves, for the sake of one another. Only then can we start to stop the spread of this pandemic and this infection that has plagued our society. Instead arguments, let's seek solutions and more importantly, instead of spreading hate and discrimination, let's find more reasons to spread love and joy.
