~:[CH9 - Day 285]:~ A Twist of Life

As I keep inventing recipes, you have your hits and misses. Luckily, they've all been edible and for the most part, pretty good. However, looking at food ties into part of the message I took in at service today. When we go out to eat, my dad often looks at the pictures on the menu or advertisements to determine where to eat. In most cases, the food doesn't come looking like the advertisements much like tourist destinations or phenomena like the Aurora Borealis. We often judge by our perceptions before we even experience how amazing or not, something or somebody is. As while sometimes our deductions are correct, our judgement is what blinds us from seeing the reality of things as we only see the perspective we want or trained to see. I always find it incredible when I go eat at a hole-in-a-wall with low expectations, yet end up utterly surprised. You look at the food and often decide before you give it a shot and we do this in many areas in our life including our own faith. The twist of life though is discovering what is hidden beneath that layer we pass judgement on. Sometimes our analysis may be correct, but the discovery of something greater is a moment that cannot be described, as you uncover something as you have an "angels singing in the background moment." Let's do our best to open our eyes and our ears, instead of quickly shunning people away. Sometimes the things that look the most appealing are far from it and vice versa, however, luckily in this case, the visual matched the tasted. My hope is by opening ourselves up, we can all find that twist that makes life that much more amazing.
