~:[CH9 - Day 299]:~ ... And We're Done!
About 900 delegates later, we're done. Over the course of three days, we held over 30 committees, hosting about 900 delegates. Today, I officially can say, we're done! The feeling of finishing the last award was amazing. It was stressful, but we learned a lot and have a lot of wealth of knowledge on how to run this smoothly. There are always going to be issues, but there are a lot less worries. In fact, it was almost easier to host a conference online that in person. Today I was reminded how amazing our students are who did such an exceptional job hosting this conference with the sophomores doing an awesome job in committee! We will gladly pass the torch to the next school hosting and now our anxieties will be focused on preparing for the conferences ahead. While we may not have our normal set of conferences, we will get some amazing competition and possibly host even more conferences with schools we had not previously been able to connect with before. The future is definitely exciting and this weekend just prove that although this time period "simply sucks," it also provides opportunities to learn and grow and to figure out things we never would have without it. The students will learn how to adapt and truly discover what they are capable of. They'll learn independence and also find more resources than they did before. Sure there will definitely be issue here and there with mental health and a lack of social interaction which must be addressed, but it doesn't discount the fact that these opportunities exist. After completing my normal shopping round, I celebrated with boba and even ended up stopping off for an event to pick up some stuff and ended up winning a raffle :P I guess it was a nice reward to highlight the weekend. For now, it's time for bed, but I'll definitely sleep well as every ounce has been drained, but at least we're done! We made it!
