~:[CH7 - Day 129]:~ Appreciation
I'm normally strict, stern, and don't show too man emotions in class, but my appreciation for my students is immense. While my IA and I received a milk tea for teachers' appreciation week from one of my students, it made me think, it's a great opportunity to express my appreciation for my students. I don't often make life easy for my students, as I try to force them to become independent in a program that will require them to be in the future. I also have to try and suppress their talkativeness, as the year goes on, they become louder, as they grow in their confidence in their speaking ability. Regardless, by year's end and as they grow older, I grow fonder of them and am so appreciative of all the work that put in and so proud of all the growth that they make. Spending so much time with them inside of class and at conferences, I have grown to appreciate them beyond the classroom, at conferences and while touring different parts of the country. For my athletes, all the time they pour into the sport, makes me appreciate how dedicated they are. I also appreciate how my cross country team has carried on the torch of the ohana and while things will never be perfect, their closeness is definitely evident. Overall, while the look on my face may not show it, I appreciate all that I have surrounding me on campus and in my daily life at work. As while this week is teacher appreciation week, I think it's only right to appreciate those who make my job bearable and make me into a better teacher - my student and athletes. Despite my stern demeanor and the piles of current events and push ups you all receive from me, I hope you realize how much you all are appreciated.
