~:[CH7 - Day 186]:~ Continuing on the Path

~:[CH7 - Day 186]:~ Continuing on the Path
It was raining in Kyoto and while it made it a little painful because of walking through all these umbrellas and dealing with being wet, it also meant that the crowds were a little bit smaller. As usual, I was annoyed by the rain, but rain is also something that I normally don't like to make me stop proceeding with my plans or exploring even more. I may complain about it, but I also will deal with it if it means getting another shot or finding something amazing. We didn't end up exploring Arashiyama as much as I had wanted to, but we did wander endlessly though the Fushimi Inari Shrine. It was crowded at the bottom and while many people turned around with the rain and as the climb got longer and more difficult, we kept going only to find a more peaceful serenity higher above. We didn't quite have enough time to venture all the way to the top, as you'll need to allot a decent amount of time to do that, however, to keep moving forward when most had turned back reminded me that in life it's something that we must do. Even when we complain or think about turning around, we must remind ourselves that it's always crowded and difficult in the beginning. Everyone is trying to get on board with what is popular as they want a part of the thing to do, but ultimately, it's those who continue on the path that will find what they are looking for. The water trickled down the stairs and we had a trek back to get back to the main area and while there never was a WOW moment, I think this special moment was discovering the value of simplicity. I stood looking at the tori gates with the stream of water flowing through with no one around. You could hear the sounds of nature all around and that peace was the reward for continuing down the path.
