~:[CH8 - Day 76]:~ The Skills of Being Lucky
I heard it all the time. "You lucked out." "What a lucky guy." "You've got luck on your side." "Beginners luck." Sure, sometimes that may be the case, but I've always been a believer that when you improve your skills and strategies, you give yourself a better chance of being "lucky." Even when you head to Vegas, knowing what games you should play and how to play them, help you to find success. We all need "luck" to be on our side, but if we work on improving ourselves, our chances will increase exponentially. With a day full of work, I closed off the night with a friend at the Clippers game and just when things felt like they were in control, a furious come back came from the Nets, but it was Lou who hit that "lucky" shot, something he practiced thousands of times. For those who sit back and hope for luck to come their way or who think that all their life they faced tough luck, it may be true, but it doesn't mean you can't work to improve yourself so that maybe you'll have a better chance of things falling your way. Maybe the lucky four-leaf clover we are all searching for is not in a field of clovers, but rather in our sleeves, when we roll them up and get down to working on ourselves. Maybe then, we'll get lucky and discover that pot of gold we knew was always awaiting us at the end of the beautiful rainbow.
