~:[CH13 - Day 3]:~ Cleaning in a Digital World

~:[CH13 - Day 3]:~ Cleaning in a Digital World

It would be easy to confuse my time behind the screen as wasting time, but in this digital age, cleaning is not relegated to picking up around the house, vacuuming and the like. As I sat down, I knew the task at hand would be more daunting than cleaning around the house (without the dust). After the fiasco of losing years of my photos with friends and families, I slowly recovered some of the albums I had backed up awhile back to at least rebuild some of the memories I have saved over the years. I got quoted over $3,000 to do the recovery of the drive, so it might be awhile before I get to see those photos and videos again (if at all). I went from drive to drive, album to album and file to file. Some documents, some designs, as well as a chunk of photos and videos. Just like you do when you clean, you stop and you check out some of these old memories. I guess at times it can be more enjoyable as you click on a video and have a more vivid memory of these moments of the past. All-in-all, I ended up editing a few albums, organizing hundreds of albums and sorting thousands of files, still yet, I am far from done. I'll still be seeing what more I can recover from the lost drive and also trying to organize my files so that they can easily be accessible. As I wrapped up, I triple checked that my files were being backed up properly and then snapped a filtered photo, which couldn't help look like a zombie who's been staring at the screen all day. Aside from checking the mail, I didn't step outside, stepping away only to cook dinner and clean up a bit more around my room. The time has flown by and as I look at what I've accomplished, I am a little disappointed, but still yet, I think down the road as I am searching for "that" file, I will be grateful that I took a few days to clean in this digital world. How organized are your digital files?
