~:[CH6 - Day 63]:~ The Making of a Champion
Another early morning alarm on a Saturday, but I was ready to go. Sometimes you wonder why you're doing this to yourself, but then you go through the day and realize just why. Championships allow for championships to be won, but champions are made every day with the daily grind including waking up early for these all-day meets. Luckily, the ABC District Championships is a much shorter affair than most meets, which have stretched to two-day affairs. We had a pretty successful run on the day as we were able two win a collection of medals, have a number of individuals winners, two athlete of the meets and two team championships by days end. However, the accolades mean a lot less than all the energy and effort that this team put forth. While still missing a number of athletes, we still had one of our best showings at this meet and their early performances this season make this season one that is very exciting. Sure, we have a lot of work today, but we've just started out on this road. I'll be happy if this year is filled with medals and championships, however, that is never my end goal, as I'm in the business of making champions and there's no limit on how many of those there can be. Today we can celebrate, but tomorrow we must get back to work on our road to making a champion.
