I graded presentations today, I watched practice and enjoyed a nice celebratory meal. As I looked at this dish, it reminded me of people. Do I mean a specific person or am I talking about people in general? In life, I feel that we all have the tools to succeed. I do agree that many are placed in tough situations and are disadvantaged while others are privileged, however, if we look at ourselves in detail, we may just find an amazing set of tools we can use and put on display. For those of us who are able, analyze your skill sets and you as a person in general. What are some things you wish to highlight and how to do you arrange them within your display? Look at yourself and your abilities and figure out how you can organize what you have to offer. It doesn't have to be in a way that will impress others, rather in a way that will be best suited for yourself. What will be most efficient and how do you organize the things in your life so you can best take advantage of what skills and traits you have to offer. As I think about my seniors who are working on their college applications or my alumni applying for a job, they all have to do this when they look to make their new transitions in life, but we can also do this on a personal level to get the most out of who we are. I didn't really want to dig into this dish at my friend's restaurant (Dakara Sushi), but I did and I smiled as not only was it visually nice, it was quite delicious and refreshing. The balance and thought put into this meal was perfect and I know that even when we are disadvantaged, we can help ourselves if we just figure out the best arrangement for our own lives.
