~:[CH12 - Day 202]:~ Togetherness
Another dreaded day at the beach, another day the athletes loved. When I got had to dust off all the sand, put my clothes in the garage, and hope that my car doesn't smell like the beach tomorrow. As much as this day is dreaded by me, it's a day that the athletes enjoy and this group seemed to enjoy it too much. From the water to eating to sports and to the bonfire, they enjoyed each other's company, they got to know each other better, and they spend some precious moments together. Whether they realized it today or not, these are the moments they'll carry with them for years to come as many alum talk about their memory of the bonfires many years after they lave the program. What makes this moment so special? It's quite simple, it's being together and enjoying this moment together. While some of us may be extroverts and others introverts, the presence of people you enjoy the company of ends up being something you enjoy and celebrate. It's something you will remember years later and a memory you will hold as precious in the many you will encounter in your life. It could be the waves, the joy of soaking in the sun, but the reality is, what makes it special is sharing this moment with people you care about. I was burnt, my body was sore from playing basketball, and my body was covered in sand, but there's no doubt that I enjoyed watching them team be together. They sung together, they laughed together and most important, they simply existed together, which made this moment even more special. Even when you're in a place you may despise, I hope you'll discover just how much people can help you overcome that disdain and appreciate the quality of these special moments.
