~:[CH13 - Day 222]:~ Walking Through Those Gates
As a few of my athletes worked at orientation, I realized it's always interesting to watch the new students walk through the gates of campus and into a whole different world. The wide eyes of these freshman may be a sign of their nervousness, as they know not where their journey will head. Like them, we often pass through the gates of the unknown. Whether it be a new assignment, a future with someone new or a step forward after losing someone dear, or a change in direction, it will take most of us some time to adjust and adapt. It's okay to feel a bit overhwhelmed, anxious or nervous, but there is also no reason why we shouldn't be hopeful and confident of what's ahead. Life is challenging enough, thus, let's give ourselves the encouragement we need when we walk through the gates of life. While many students and staff will be cheering on and encouraging these freshmen, sometimes, we are the forgotten ones, so instead of just relying on others, take the first big step by relying on yourself. Along the way, you'll discover many who will root you on, but until then, don't forget to believe in yourself. Walking through those gates will be a bit nerve-wracking every time, but we have the power to make it a little easier.
