~:[CH12 - Day 168]:~ Where It Started
I ventured to another school site today. Just about a year ago, I went to introduce Model UN to their staff. They worked hard to learn about it, gathered a few students to start up the program and will be attending their first conference in a few weeks. It was cool to meet the students who will be representing their school for the first time. I thought about how difficult this process must have been for them and their teachers as learning from scratch is quite the challenge. It made me wonder what it was like when MUN first started at Cerritos or how anything was like at the beginning. The process always will have forks in the road where we must decide which direction to proceed. Every decision impacts the next and ultimately that decides how our programs and even our lives develop. It's always impressive to think of those at the start who started the process and did so with little to no guidance. While I hope that my one day of assistance can help, most of this process will lie in the hands of these amazing students and teachers and I am looking forward to their progress as they move forward. Like everything, it will be a little challenging at the start, but once they get things off the ground, I know that they'll give themselves the opportunity to soar. Sending out the appreciation to all the groundbreakers as I know just how hard the process must have been, yet you keep persevering to arrive where you are today or where you will be in the future.
