~:[CH12 - Day 251]:~ Exploring the Island
The second day is always our toughest as we head all the way around the island. We open up with our morning run to acclimate to the weather and the head north through the middle of the island as we head up to North Shore. It was nice to explore the island with this group, as we only had two who had traveled up with us before, Today was filled with too much food while we enjoyed the beaches of North Shore and then headed down to the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is great to expose them to the culture that exists on the island. While I wish we had more time to explore, I was glad that they got to learn about the different islands of Polynesia and some even got to enjoy a ukulele lesson or fishing. The evening wrapped up with their fabulous show as the fire dancers wowed the audience to close out the show. The athletes had two much energy as we headed back down to the hotel and as exhausted as they were, enjoyed their final hour of the day together as we trekked back down to Waikiki. It was definitely an exhausting day, but it was also one where they learned so much about this beautiful place.
