~:[CH13 - Day 144]:~ Prepared for the Road Ahead
Before I even wrapped up the track and field banquet, I was prepping for the MUN banquet. I guess I am living through what I teach. Planning ahead and organizing your time to ensure you have enough time to finish what you need to. I think with so many years of experience, this process is becoming quite routine. I told someone that I would be wrapping up editing at 2am, and sure enough, my last edit was at that time with only exporting to do. The work to put this on can sometimes be overwhelming, but this year ran pretty smooth. Whether it's easy or difficult, it's worth it to honor these students who have done such an amazing job. I met with our principal for next year and one thing I mentioned is, that MUN is such a valuable experience for the students. Our class is full of a variety of students heading every which way, but no matter what they choose to do with their lives, they'll carry what they learned in MUN with them. They're prepared to investigate and look into things, they can articulate their thoughts, they can formulate good arguments on paper, and they can work with others to negotiate. They'll be a little more comfortable in public settings, ready to step up to present at work, and even willing to speak up when they feel it's necessary. There's a long list of other benefits of this class, but the reality is, I love to see how prepared these students are for the road ahead. Through the process, they become individuals ready for the world. They're armored with everything they need and I am confident that they when they leave, they'll have a good shot at success. I hope that there are many generations more who will be able to have this valuable experience, but for now, at least I can smile knowing that this class of 2024 is well prepared for what's ahead. Congrats to the senior MUN class of 2024!
