disaster

earthquakes shake the ground below
fire falls down from the sky
as people scatter and take cover
they are all asking, "why?"

as the lava flows from overhead
the level of water in the seas rise
not knowing the disaster that may await
it has been all a big surprise

with wars and revolution about
economic issues that we must face today
the world fears that we are living
in a time of the Earth's decay

while the worst of times may be ahead
where we may find difficulities unknown
i'm thankful for those by my side
over time, our relationships have grown

as we may see the end of times
the hope i see is in all of you
who helped me survive each challenge
always willing to see me through

who took the extra time to find me
took the extra steps to meet me half way
who i know will be wearing a cape
even if the world was ending today

so while conspiracy theories may multiply
predicting the end of this place
our road of memories together
no natural disaster could ever erase

fear not the cata'clysmic events ahead
as you have the best supporting cast
as i could imagine no better way to depart
than with the best friends anyone could ask
