drilling

head pounding
drilling away
how in the world
am i'm going to survive this day?

like a volcano erupting
an earthquake below
a category five hurricane
ten feet of snow

a 20,000 foot climb
a fifty foot drop
50mph winds
temperatures so very hot

as i stagger in the AM
survive the afternoon
the evening better hurry
come very soon

a whirlwind of thoughts
not a single one remains
as i can only think of agony
of sheer utter pain

a close of my eyes
no relief is in sight
except for that moment
i plop in my bed this very night

a hammer, a rock
i have not a single clue
all i can think is
"what can i do?"

pounding and pounding
pounding again
hurry, please hurry
i need this misery to end
