~:[CH5 - Day 111]: ~ Not So Foreign

~:[CH5 - Day 111]: ~ Not So Foreign
I got back home at about 1am and had to sleep and get ready for school the next day. I drug myself into the door at work, began catching up and got ready for class. It was a rough day, but the great speeches in store helped make the day bearable. It also helped to have Northern Cafe and TapEx to refuel my body. We were in pre-meet mode for practice so it went by quickly. It was nice being back in the routine of things. I ended my workday with scrip before closing out for the night. I was invited to eat yukgaejang and while I knew what food I was going to eat, I was not as prepared for the wonderful experience I had. I was treated so nicely and the setup was very awesome. It felt as if I was in a restaurant within a house. The side dishes were an amazing complement to the yukgaejang and plate after plate meant that I would be stuffed by the end of the night. The balance of food groups was something I enjoyed, but even more so, the hospitality and the system that worked within the household was quite impressive. With such a large family, I could see how the family work together so closely from rotating duties to just the conversation at the dinner table. By the end of the night I was stuffed, but also filled with the amazing joy of such an experience. I went in knowing I would enjoy some delicious food, but left with a replenished soul. I was walking on air and while I had to try and stay up through the night to finish up the basketball banquet video, I was so energized by tonight's experience. I am thankful for the hospitality and hope to one day repay them for it. It was a great start to a welcome back to California and I know there is much more in store in the days ahead.
