~:[CH13 - Day 46]:~ The Minutes in Between
I finally had a break ... wait, no I didn't. After two nights of basketball, we had our rescheduled grill session for Nationals. It's been a little hectic with trying to plan with the current schedule, but we made the day work and everyone was still able to show up. It was great to see how they've progressed over the past few months of preparation as we close in on a few weeks left until we leave for New York. It feels a little strange as this cycle continues year after year with a different group of students. Just like how the sun rises and sets daily, so does that transition of people in my life. There are those who are a mainstay, however, many who cycle through While they remain in my memories, the makeup of those around me changes, sometimes even daily. I think in life you realize just how often this happens. As a teacher, it happens even more often as I have to say my goodbyes to students are they move on. Because of it, I always move through life with a bit of detachment, getting to know them just enough to make the cycles easier to bear. Who knows if this is the right approach, but I guess as you cycle through life, there will be those who move beyond those moments in between and become a fixture beyond their cycle. However, regardless if someone's presence remains only in those moments in between, I truly cherish each and every minute, as I file them away in my memories to be revisited another day. Each of these minutes of my life are an important piece of my life that make up the larger picture of who I am today and who I will be in the future. As while my detachment with life may continue, my attachment to each of these minutes will never cease, as there are no insignificant moments, just ones that you highlight more than others. I may not have gotten a break today between the basketball scheduled days, but it just meant I added more pieces to that bigger picture with these minutes in between.
